As a Broker we often talk to people who are beggining to think
about selling their vessel and the first question is always " What is it
Worth ?" I'm sure that you have all heard that it is worth what somebody
is willing to pay for it. While this may be partially true, in my world it depends
on a lot of different factors. The following factors help to determine the actual
value of the vessel, not necessarily the selling price. - Condition
of the vessel
- Updates and Improvements made to the
vessel if it is an older boat
- Size, location and
type of vessel for the area where the boat is located
- Urgency
of the Seller to sell quickly
- Current debt of the
vessel
No one wants to sell the boat for a dollar
less than necessary and no one wants to pay a dollar more than necessary and this
is where a good professional roker earns our fee. Everyone is entitled to their
own opinion that if you talk to enough boaters you will definitely hear a lot
of opinions as to value and price of certain vessels. While
the value of a vessel is somewhat up to the Buyer, it certainly helps to have
at least a ballpark idea as to the value of your boat. Buyers come armed with
the NADA book or another source and they are all different. To
