Mr.& Mrs. Tim Tighe
Shortly after starting this business, my good friend Pete Tully, of Polestar Marina,
gave my name to a bank that had a problem boat in the marina. Our first listing
was soon a reality. However, at a discounted fee, for what we thought was going
to be a slam-dunk. The boat was a good boat, but had been neglected and needed
to be purchased by someone who had a vision and could see beyond the dirt, grime
and neglect. After a few interested parties, Mr. Tim Tighe appeared and said that
he was interested in the boat. Shortly thereafter, a contract
was signed and we scheduled a date for haul-out and survey. As the boat was hauled
out and was hanging in the lift, my cell phone rang and it was the bank. The voice
on the other end said, "You can't sell that boat, it is now in bankruptcy.
"Now, we're really in trouble; we have a buyer, that is spending money, wants
a boat and we can't sell it. Tim, while disappointed,
said don't worry; we just need to be patient. Well, patience prevailed and 6 weeks
later after numerous telephone calls, unexpected past due sales taxes, an old
Coast Guard Documentation abstract, we finally received the approval to close
the deal. The deal was closed after a few short days; Tim really went to work.
The boat was stripped of its carpet, cleaned, waxed, polished and repaired and
after a couple of short weeks, the boat was ready for the water.
While not complete, the boat is currently in Polestar Marina, waiting for other
improvements. Even while the boat was awaiting carpet and furnishings, it did
not prevent Tim and his wife Lynn from enjoying the water. The boat has already
made several day cruises and looks great on the water.
If you want to see what "Patience" looks like, check out Tim and Lynn's
new boat called appropriately "Patience ". Thanks,
Tim and Lynn for having the patience to see this deal through. |
"Patience is a
virtue", someone once said. Well, I'm here to tell you it is definitely
true.
